The Winter Session Begins on January 16

We are excited to announce that our Winter Session will begin on January 16! As international fascination with Yoruba culture increases more each day, don’t be left behind, not knowing what WizKid, Ice Prince and Adekunle Gold are singing about. Team up with our professional instructors to learn our native tongue and know more about our culture.

We are currently accepting registration for adult classes (weekday evenings) and Saturday school for children. All courses follow the Oyo standard of Yoruba instruction with a full standard language curriculum. Classes are not just your run-of-the-mill sentence building exercises, but also utilize film and music. You can also get plugged in to the NYC Nigerian social scene.

All of our instructors are professional instructors and native Yoruba speakers who are passionate about imparting the Yoruba language and culture. We provide a safe space for language learners in and out of the classroom. We promise you will never be ridiculed, only empowered. Learning Yoruba is life-changing and opens you up to deeper relationships with your Yoruba-speaking friends, parents, cousins and other relatives.

Adults can choose from evening classes (Mon/Wed OR Tue/Thurs) or Saturday morning classes. Evening classes run from 6:30pm to 8pm. Saturday classes run from 10am to 1pm.

Children can sign up for Saturday school which runs from 10am to 1pm. Children will learn Yoruba basics as well as many songs, rhymes and games.

Advanced classes are available for those who have taken Yoruba classes previously, and will be available in the Spring Session for those taking beginner classes now. Advanced classes begin January 23.

All classes take place at the Stuyvesant Mansion in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
